Work, Work, Work...

Last weekend, Josh and I worked our butts off. We had a "to do list" of about 50 items and we got almost half of them done... Since then, a few more items have been added. I've been trying to knock off as much as I can this week. I am getting sick of people telling me that everything will get done and that everything will be fine. For the record, it's not humanly possible to get *everything* done on our list before the baby comes. It's just not going to happen. Some items have (ie. install the carseat, fill out hospital forms) to get done and others (have Josh build bathroom cabinets, prepare meals for freezer) are just my wishful thinking. As the house stands now, it's not in too bad of shape. The baby's room is done except for the quilt hanging... and we are lucky to have pretty much all we need in the way of taking care of the little guy.

A big part of what I've been doing is figuring out WHERE to store all the new baby stuff that has come into our lives all of a sudden. I did massive amounts of work clearing out and organizing the 2nd bedroom upstairs as well and cleaning our's out as well. You should have seen the huge pile of trash we set out this week and the boxes we took to Salvation Army! Our living room and dining room have long been "construction sites" as Josh has been using these spaces to store all our home renovation items and his tools. The bathroom downstairs is in the middle of being remodeled and currently does not have a sink or any cabinets. For example, my towels are being stored on a chair in the dining room and we brush our teeth at the kitchen sink (our upstairs bathroom sink decided to break at this most important time). I am wondering if we'll have the dining room cleared up somewhat of construction items before Thanksgiving.

Anyway, I hope you all can somewhat understand my stress level now... this is on top of all the little stuff I've been doing while trying to "nest" as they call it. My doctor has insisted that I try not to be on my feet all day and that I rest. I am really trying to follow his orders... but, there's just too much yet to be done. So, I've been working and taking breaks to try and not get monster swollen feet. If anyone knows how utterly EXHAUSTED a woman nearing the end of her pregnancy feels, you can imagine that my exhaustion is double that from trying to get some order to our house before Isaac comes. I'm not supposed to be on any ladders or lift anything over 20 lbs. So, I'm continuously asking Josh to carry this or that up or down the stairs. I joked with him that after the baby comes, he'll be asking ME to carry stuff for him.

I'm sorry if this post came off as a vent today. I wasn't going to post because I didn't feel that I had an interesting topic. But, it felt good to explain what we've been up to as we're nearing the finish line. I know not everything is going to be *perfect* before the baby comes. I just want to get as much done as we can. Thanks for listening.

Relax. The baby will come whether or not you are ready. The best thing you can do for Isaac is to relax. The stress effects him too. It will be ok if not everything is perfect before he comes. Think of it this way...your house could still be completely in boxes with absolutely nothing ready. We got through just fine. I'm sure you are more than ready for him.
