Our Little Lion

How cute is he?
Is he a cowardly lion?
Not quite! LOL
We enjoyed the nice weather yesterday. Isaac had fun playing in the crinkly fall leaves.
Besides the photo shoot with mommy, he also wore his costume to church on Sunday! All the costumed kids had a procession, listed to Fr. Ron's story of All Saints' Day, and got tons of candy! I let Isaac have a teeny nibble of a Starburst. He was very intrigued by all the costumes. We sat by a ninja, an angel, Luke Skywalker, and a witch. When we walked by the choir, he waved to all the adoring ladies.
"Oh, a pumpkin!"
Isaac's 1st Halloween
What an adorable lion!
Hope the pictures were worth the wait! We have trick or treaters tonight! We'll be visiting our neighbor friends to show Isaac off in his costume as well as passing out candy to the kiddos.

Invites Out

Just a quick reminder to our family and friends: Isaac's 1st Birthday Party is going to be December 2nd! I just finished up the invites yesterday and artsty fartsy mom that I am... I made them myself. Isaac's party will have a frog theme! He seems to really love all the frog toys that he has (Kermit, his frog bath toy, frog puppet, etc.) and so it was an easy pick. I've invited lots of family and friends and hope many of you will come!

45 Weeks

Isaac is now 45 weeks old!

(I wonder when I'll ever stop naming these posts by the week. I guess I should just call them weekly posts by now. It's not like I tell people that he's "45 weeks old" when they ask his age. LOL)

Updates on our cuddlebunny:

* Becoming increasingly mobile! He can crawl extremely fast and when he really gets going, he'll squeal with excitement. It's super cute when he crawls up to someone and tugs on their pant legs for attention. We've blocked off a section of the living room with gates so that he doesn't have free reign to terrorize the whole house. The dogs steer clear of him when they see him coming. ;)

* Pulling up on most everything now. He used to be shakey and nervous about it. But, he lets go with one hand now... and does fun stuff like clear tapletops. Cruising from furniture piece to furniture piece as well.

* Bending knees to get down from a standing position. This is KEY because for the longest time, he would just whine to be helped down. The poor little kiddo thought falling was the only option. He can now quickly get down from standing and that's been great. It's cute when you call him from across the room and he crawls all the way over to you. If you ask him where he's going, he looks back with a funny face.

* Climbing over floor pillows, toys, and parents is exciting these days. We haven't introduced him to the stairs yet.

* Still loving books all the time! It seems as if he's not crawling and pulling up to discover, he's sitting down looking at books. His attention span has grown. We can read a whole stack of books together now. His favorites are still the flap books because he's learned how to open each and every flap! Animal books and books with other babies in them are hits, too.

* Waving a lot more often and on demand. When we say "Hi!" or wave to him, he waves back.

* Not napping well as usual. Did you expect to hear differently? (sigh)

* Not leaking out of his diapers anymore, thank goodness. It's Huggies Supreme during the day and Huggies Overnights for nighttime.

* Has gotten a little bit of a sassy attitude when it comes to me telling him "No!" When he goes to touch the corner guards on the entertainment center, I will either tell him no or will say, "Ahh, ahh!" Well, the little stinker loves to repeat sounds we make. So, now he goes over to the guards, touches them, and says, "Ahh, ahh!" LOL It's so hard not to laugh. For the record, he wiped out by the tv and hit his head on the leg of the entertainment center. It swelled and look bad, but ended up as just a scratch. It would have been a gash if he had hit the door. So, I'm leaving the guards up even though they cause undue stress.

* Eating A LOT these days. I think he's going through a growth spurt. Josh is already joking that our grocery bill is going to start going up!

Enjoy the new pictures!

I'll pick THAT punkin right in the middle. :)
"What? You mean I can't EAT the crayons?"
We have a fishy on our hands... he LOVES bathtime!
Reading books, all calm and serious
Riding in the car, silly as can be
I wonder how long this scrunchy face phase will last?! "Hey, I'm locked in!"
"Want to help a little guy out?"
Thanks for checking in!

Me, Too

As you know, I'm usually the one behind the camera. I got my sister Beck to snap a few pics of Isaac and I together this weekend and I thought these two were cute. :)

Lots of Smiles

My family decided kind of last minute to come visit over the weekend. I found out they were coming Friday morning and had to scramble to make the house presentable... although, I'm sure they didn't notice. The DID notice how adorable and funny our little boy is, though! It had been almost a month since they had last seen Isaac. He was THRILLED to have them at our house because he loves company... especially company that "oohs" and "ahhs" over him constantly.

We didn't do much... just a little bit of local shopping here and there and lots of playing with the baby.

Isaac and his Grandma A testing out a bench
Me: "I said, 'Smile, not scrunch your face!"
Isaac and his Aunt Beckie when we went out to lunch at Red Robin
Aunt Chrissy and Isaac playing "peekaboo!" around the corner
Josh, Isaac, my mom, and I... We had a fun weekend as usual. But, it went by too fast! My mom brought Isaac some Halloween treats and garage sale toys/clothes. He was such a huge fan of her this time and was always crawling towards her, asking to be picked up. The last afternoon, he fussed and only wanted to be with her! You can imagine the smiles that brought to her face, of course. :)

Four Teeth!

Tonight, I noticed Isaac's 2nd top tooth had cut. That makes FOUR teeth! Three of those teeth have cut in the last eight days. Hmm, no wonder he's been fussy and hasn't been sleeping well! Poor little guy.

Gotta' Love...

A new naked baby picture. :)

Happy Friday, everyone!

Four Years

Happy 4th Anniversary, Josh! I love you!

We will be celebrating tonight with dinner. Josh brought me beautiful roses, some yummy chocolate, and an incredibly soft new robe! This weekend, we plan to pick out some nice frames for two wedding pictures we've never hung up (We were waiting to paint the living room.). It's hard to believe that four years have passed... in January, we will have known eachother for TEN!

"No, Isaac"

These pictures were TOO FUNNY not to post. Isaac is obsessed with the corner guards I put on the cabinet doors (the little clear things to the left and right of his face). Anway, they come off if you pull them. But, I leave them up there because I just know the minute I take them down, he'll crack his head open on one of the sharp corners. He crawls and plays right in front of the tv all the time.

Anyway, he was caught playing with them the other day and I told him "No."

The pouty lip came out and then he cried. It was so hard not to laugh. LOL

44 Weeks

Isaac is now 44 weeks old!

Updates on our silly boy:

* Crawling really well! He can make it just about anywhere he wants to go these days and is very fast. The other night, he heard me running the water for his bath and crawled all the way to the bathroom (quite a trip for a new crawler!).

* Jumps in his Jumperoo for a about 5 mintues at a time now before he realizes that he'd rather be OUT and discovering. It's on level 4, the last one.

* Not sleeping or napping all that great these days. I guess there's just too much going on with the teething and learning new stuff. I know that I feel like I want a nap most days.

* Pulling to stand everywhere now! He mostly pulls up on his Leapfrog table. When he first started falling, he'd whine and cry. Now, he just picks himself right back up to try again. He's even started to "cruise" just a little between his table and the ottoman.

* Starting to change a little bit. For the longest time, he JUST looked exactly like Josh. But, he's starting to resemble my family and I a little bit more.

* Loves to look at books by himself and also have them read to him. Right now, his favorites are ones with flaps to open and close.

* Very curious about everything now that he's more mobile. He discovered sticking his fingers into the register yesterday and tried crawling into the dog crate. Any little tiny crumb or piece of lint is fascinating, too. If I see him with some contraband (ie. a dog toy), all I have to do is say... "Isaac, what do you have?" and he holds it right up in the air for me. LOL, a little surrender.

* Loves to be silly with mommy and daddy. I can make him smile and laugh very easily. This week, I've been cheering him up by faking a pouty lip and whining. He thinks it's hilarious and will giggle! He still loves the game of "feeding" us his toys, too.

Enjoy the new pictures!!

See why we call him "Hurricane Isaac"??
"Are you going to feed me or take pictures?"
LOL When Josh saw this picture, he said, "All he needs is a beer." This is Isaac watching a video, taking full advantage of floor pillows.
The infamous "scrunch" face, he makes it when in pursuit of something exciting
What a BIG boy! He loves, loves, loves this Leapfrog learning table.
He looks like my dad here. Anyone else think so?
Pulling up on the entertainment center to watch some Noggin. :)
Do you think we should ship him somewhere? To one of his grandmas, perhaps? ;)
"I'm so proud of myself! Standing up in my crib!"
Thanks for checking in!!

A Diaper Story

We've been long-time fans of Pampers diapers. As a newborn, Isaac wore whatever diapers we received as gifts. We soon realized that not every brand/style of diaper is created equally. Pampers Swaddlers were our diaper of choice for our son. They seemed to fit him well and work the best. I had plans to use discount diapers like Luvs... but, yuck! Just not worth the money we would save if they didn't work. Next, we moved onto Pampers Cruisers. They were the next step up when Isaac outgrew the Swaddlers. Buying in big bulk boxes and using coupons allowed us to use the style we liked. Next up came Pampers Baby Dry... a step down from Cruisers, but still worked okay. But, then (insert happy music coming to a schreeching halt here)... we started getting leaks! Yuck... changing Isaac's clothes and sheets all the time was just not fun. Was it the new, cheaper diapers? Maybe. Nope. We went back to Cruisers and still had leaks.

So, we've said "So, long!" to Pampers, my friends. I read online that Huggies are recommended for both babies who are hefty and for boys. Hey (raises hand in air), I have a hefty baby boy! I broke down and bought a box of Huggies Supreme and love them! No leaks so far at all and he's been wearing them for three days. For the record, it wasn't a quantity issue (as in, too much in the diaper) that was making Isaac leak. The Pampers were plenty big. It was all about the FIT now that he's more mobile. To all the girls in Josh's family who swear by Pampers, I'm sorry I've broken the mold. Isaac is in Huggies!

Edited to add: He leaked. Wearing Huggies. Just after I finished posting, I went to get him from his nap. Wet pj's, wet bedding. :(

Three Teeth!

Isaac, a.k.a. Mr Fussy Pants, now has THREE teeth! His first top tooth has broken through and the second top one is on it's way. My goodness... he's not a happy camper.. all the whining about the pain, drooling non-stop, fevers, and sleep-fighting (up super early this morning and then no morning nap, oye!). Poor kiddo (and poor parents)!
