Just a few more detailed shots... we worked hard to create or pick out everything so it was just so. We added a four panel door, Josh added fluted sides to the cabinets and around the archway, I made the curtains with fabric I found and loved, etc. :)

So, the bathroom project took Josh a LONG time to complete... but, that wasn't his fault. I made him stop in order to do the nursery so it would be ready for the baby. He also took advantage of warm weather and spent that time working on the patio outside... not mention the many, many weekends we travled to visit or had family visit. But, Josh worked his butt of on the bathroom whenever money and time were both available.

Here are some pictures of the progress:

We decided to add a full bathtub so the bathroom room be called a full instead of half. Josh redid all the plumbing in order to accomodate the tub.
A shower surround went up shortly after that and Josh decided to raise the ceiling above the stall. He decided to make the opening an archway.
Lots of mess and drywall work, but it looks a lot better than a square opening.
All cleaned up and primed.
Next, he worked on tiling the floor. We had picked up the tile at a warehouse sale a LONG time ago... it's Italian ceramic with a rough finish.
In order to save some time and money, Josh reused the cabinet doors. He is an excellent carpenter and built the cabinets to be larger and more to our liking with lots of detail... all around the exisiting doors.

The Bathroom- Before

Okay, I finally have a chunk of time to devote to posting home renovation projects! Hopefully, Blogger will cooperate and work well (Some days it's hard to post pictures because the site is slow or freezes up.).

Anyway, here is a picture of our downstairs bathroom before we moved in! Kind of on the small side, but okay. This area used to be a side porch and was turned into a bath. It had sliding glass doors for the shower stall, pretty plain assemble in place-type oak finish cabinets, and carpeting. Even though the bathroom was functional and not nearly as out of date as some other parts of our house (built in the 1890's), the style and fixtures weren't really our style.
About two years ago, the shower started to crack along the bottom. The area around the drain hadn't been supported properly and so we were getting water damage on the carpeting. We knew we'd need to replace the shower and flooring. In the meantime, Josh decided to start adding some woodworking details to the room. He framed out the window.
Then, added beadboard and molding to the ceiling.
Then... THIS is what the bathroom looked like for a long time! Major construction zone!! I was pregnant during this time and had to trek upstairs to go to the bathroom. Do you know how often that was being a pregnant woman? Whew, I'm glad those days are over.

41 Weeks

Isaac is now 41 weeks old~ 9 1/2 months!

Updates on our baby boy:

* Quickly outgrowing 6-9 month clothes as I'm rushing to try and have him wear long sleeved outfits in that size. Pretty soon, he'll be in all 6-12 (Old Navy) or 12 months and size 4 diapers.

* Loves being strapped into his highchair for a third meal of the day. He still gets pureed fruits and veggies, but also feeds himself finger foods. This week, he fed himself some little bits of chicken fingers. When I open the container of fruit or veggie puffs, he shakes his hands in excitement. Yep, we have good eater. LOL

* Napping pretty well these days. Sometimes it's heaven and he'll sleep twice a day for 2 hours. Boycotts are not as common, thank goodness. He's still in his crib and is able to put himself to sleep.

* Working on kneeling and trying to stand up. He holds onto toys or furniture to pull to a kneeling position, but hasn't mastered standing on his own. If we help him, he will stand and support himself for a long time. He's so excited about the aspect of getting around to new places and into new things. If he wants to go discover and practice crawling (still backwards!), he'll try and wiggle out of our arms.

* Working on saying "hi" and "bye" while he waves. We're also trying to teach him to "high five" and blow kisses.

See? He's ALL about trying to kneel and stand up. He even used our DOG last week. I guess she is low to the ground and sturdy. Hee, hee! She didn't even care.... just layed there.

Dogs

Oh, yeah. Otto and Soph went with us, too. Here are Toby, Otto, Soph, and Jacob all in a row. It didn't take long before they realized that that puny gate wasn't difficult to knock down. LOL

Food, Family & Friends

I got my fill of all my favorite foods at the festival (stromboli, italian sausage sandwich, corn dog, apple dumpling, etc.). I was careful not to let Isaac eat too much junky fair food. He did enjoy his first taste of a purple cow... lots of smiles and "mmm's." We visited the art, photo, antique, and craft shows. Isaac even won a purple beach ball playing duck pond (He's a pro!). The Grape Jamboree is like a homecoming for lots of folks. We ran into random people like my elementary school secretary and neighbors who have known me since I was a toddler. It's hard to walk a few feet without running into someone you know. Afterall, my family has been in the town since I was born.

We did manage to hang out at my mom's house and visit as well. Josh wasn't feeling well due to his allergies and made a date with Claritin, the couch, and football on tv.

That's my Aunt Debbie in the middle. Isaac had just gotten the two of them all wet getting a drink from a water bottle. Messy boy! Debbie came bringing fun gifts for Isaac including this really cool baseball toy which he just loves. My mom spoiled him with tons of really cute fall clothes and fun garage sale toys.

We were lucky enough to run into my friends Mark and Steph for a few minutes downtown
and Steph and Isaac got to love on eachother!
My sister Beckie is almost as picture crazy as I am. She's always trying to get cute "frameable" pictures of she and Isaac. I laugh SO hard whenever I see the picture below because Isaac was NOT a happy camper about all her kisses. He was cranky.
But, then he did better the next day. :)
I like this one, too.
For those wondering about the weather, it was hit or miss. Sometimes it was nice and sunny and other times it was cold and cloudy. We only got sprinkled on once, although storms threatened us many times. Here's a cool pic of Chrissy and her friend Mel down by the rides and games.
