Hoppin' Good Time
Whew, I finally have a few minutes to wrap up these birthday party posts! Hope they were worth the wait!
Isaac's party went really well. I am so thankful for my family and friends who came down to help us prepare Friday night and Saturday morning... they helped with setting up furniture, decorating, and food prep. It was great to have so many extra hands.
The party was from noon-3:00 p.m. and we had about 30 adults and a few children! They weren't all here at the same time, though. We all ate first and then sang to Isaac. It was quite embarassing when my sisters and I couldn't get the cupcake lighted with the candle lighter. LOL Isaac tried grabbing the lit candle and then was overwhelmed by all the singing. I thought he might cry because sometimes he does when people get really loud. It makes him nervous. He smiled and got shy, though... and then dug right into his cupcake! Oh, my! What a mess... good thing we stripped him down! He LOVED the cupcake and ate almost all of it. He had blue icing in his hair and all over his face.
Next, we opened gifts. That held Isaac's attention for just a few minutes. LOL Once a gift was opened, he wanted to play with that... or all the ribbons, of course. That's okay. Between Josh, our nephew Joel, and I, we got all the goodies unwrapped rather quickly. Isaac made out like a bandit! Seriously, he got tons of great gifts! It would be hard to list them all here. But, his two largest gifts were this Fisher Price riding zebra toy from his Grandma A and his very own patio bench from our friends John and Sue. He's really enjoyed playing with all his new toys.. especially his little laptop toy, the animals from his farm truck and Noah's ark, and his Thomas flashlight. I will try to mention more of the great gifts as the week goes on and he plays with them. We are so thankful for each and every one of them and so is our little boy.
The video montage I made of Isaac's first year was playing all throughout the party and our guests enjoyed watching that. After the gifts, we just sat around and visited. We only had a couple of kids and so we didn't play games. I did have favors for them (party horns, a bag of
m&m's and a bendable frog toy) and those were a big hit. At about 2:30, our little pumpkin was getting pretty worn out and I wondered if he would become a party pooper. As it turns out, he was konked out for an afternoon nap at 2:45! He fell asleep before the party was over! That's okay, a lot of family who drove in for the party stayed for a long time and got to see him when he woke up.
I took tons of pictures, as you can imagine. Who, me? Take pictures? Yep, I took a lot. I regret not getting a good picture of Isaac with all his great grandparents that were there. I'll make sure to do that at Christmas time. I hope to get a smiley messy face cake picture for round two on his actual first birthday (Dec. 14th). Anyway, instead of posting all the pictures here, I've put them together in this 6 minute montage for your viewing pleasure:
Isaac's 1st Birthday Party
As you can see from the montage, we were so blessed to have many family and friends for the celebration.
I want to post a few actual pictures here on the blog, too.
Here's a cute family picture I used on our thank you cards:
Icing?
Ooooh, that's GOOD.
Opening gifts
The little bugger would NOT wear a birthday hat. So, I relented and wore one myself. :)
The afterparty with balloons. :)
