Happy Update
With the exception of the weekend (Our house was too crazy with all the company and we were out and about a lot), Isaac has been napping REALLY WELL. You read that correctly. My son. In his crib. Napping. Falling asleep on his own after minimal crying. Two naps a day. It's about time!! LOL I have been giving him a "lovie" to sleep with. It's an afghan I have been calling his "snuggle blanket." We nurse with it before his naptime and then it smells like his mommy (whom he'd love to nap ON all day long, if I'd let him). I've also been blocking the dogs with a gate so they can't go up and downstairs to wake him with their obnoxious behavior. I keep the house relatively quiet until I know he's out.
I won't lie. It took a few really rough days of listening to Isaac cry before he finally "got it." I know now that he wasn't ready to sleep on his own when I tried sleep training him at an earlier age (He threw up the first time I tried, he was so upset.). When he was sick a couple of weeks ago, I realized that if he could wake up coughing and feeling yucky... but, put himself back to sleep... then WHY couldn't he do that during the day as well? It was time to try letting him "cry it out" again. So, I had a very rough week last week trying to get Isaac to nap by himself in his own room... on MY terms. For the moment, it's working really well. He fusses for awhile, but then is down for 1-2 hours. Yahoo!! This is a very happy update, indeed. Let's just hope things continue to go smoothly.
